For the past 6 months Nya has been asking to go ice skating. When she first asked I was shocked because I did not know that she knew what it was. Then I realized that she has seen ice skating: when we have watched it at the rec center, I have old pictures of ice skating in Spokane that show up on my computer, and her cousins always talk about it. I told her she can go when she turns 3 and that helped slow down the asking to go, but not the excitement of watching it. So Matt and I surprised her and told her that we would take her ice skating. She still thought she was going to just watch when we got to the rink. Then she got excited when she got a admittance wristband and ice skates. She patiently allowed me to lace up her skates and excitedly wobbled to the rink. She freaked out when we went on the ice and her feet went back and forth rapidly as she clutched onto me. Finally we got the hang of it and she was able to hold onto me with one hand by the end of the night. We also did several 360's (grounded of course). We fell once, but we were going so slow it did not hurt (I just went down on one knee). Nya got really fancy and was skating like Grandma Jones does with one foot off the ice and raised, both in the front and the back. She thought that was just really funny. She got really good at walking on her skates off the ice. She looked really cute. We will definitely do it again.

That is so cute. Those little skates are so cute. Maybe this is going to be her calling in life. An olympic skater! :) Have you seen "Blades of Glory" yet? You should go see it. It will inspire you :)
