Matt and I decided to brave the crowds for some shopping on Black Friday. It wasn't really too bad, except that we went to 3 stores to get one particular item and they were all sold out. It was a good deal, but oh well. Anyway, we took Nya with us and she was being extremely good. Matt told her that since she was being so good he would let her choose one item to buy. We went to Circuit City, Target, Home Depot, Walmart, Best Buy, Costco, and the mall. Nya did not show any interest in any toys at Target and Walmart. We were surprised, but we did not say anything to her. When we got to Costco, Nya seemed to be a bit more excited. She asked Matt, "Can we go look at the toys? You said I could choose one." Matt of course took her over to the toys and the first thing she looked at was a pink barbie guitar and keyboard with a microphone. She wanted the guitar and keyboard but said, "let's just look around a little more." After checking out all the other toys, she was sure that the guitar and keyboard was the best choice. Nya directed Matt back over to the guitar and keyboard and said that is what she wanted. Of course it had to be one of the more expensive toys at $55. That's what you get Matt for telling a kid she can have anything she wanted. The rest of the time we were in Costco, Nya sat into the cart talking into the microphone. It was cute. Later when I told Nya that we were going to wrap it up and save it for Christmas, she said, "No way! Daddy said I could choose one thing today." We will still save it for Christmas though.
When we were at Macy's, Matt and Nya were looking at jewelry for me. I told Matt about a heart necklace that I saw an ad for that was a great price and looked pretty. Matt inquired about it at the Macy's and he thought that it looked too chinsy, but Nya fell in love with it. She wanted it so bad. After the mall we went to a different Walmart. Matt walks up to the jewelry counter to find a less expensive heart necklace for Nya. Luckily I was able to direct him over to the $4.97 jewelry and we found a cute heart necklace for her there. I decided to save that for Christmas too. It turns out that we are not very good at surprises, Nya knows what half of her presents will be.
Heart Necklace from Macy's (original price $350, sale on Friday morning $99)
Heart Necklace from Walmart (only $4.97)

That is really cute. My girls want that guitar and keyboard sooo bad. They have seen it at our Costco. If I said they could get one toy, they would see the first lame toy and say they have to have it. There is no way they would say "Let's just look around a little more" and look for the best toy. I am very proud of Nya!
